Shem Creek Shrimp Docks celebrate $3.5 million renovation with Ribbon Cutting Ceremony.
Congratulations to the The Town of Mount Pleasant, on the renovation of the Shem Creek Shrimp Docks and Processing Facility. We're so proud to see this project come to life and its completion as a prime example of a public-private partnership that invests in the living heritage of the town.
We believe strongly in connecting with the communities we serve. We encourage everyone to come down on August 12 at 9:30 a.m. for the ribbon-cutting ceremony. You'll be able to see the new upgrades and visit the historic dock’s current tenants at Tarvin Seafood/Miss Paula.

Living Shoreline Installation at Pitt Street Bridge |

The Mount Pleasant GREEN Commission was established by Mayor Will Haynie. We can't thank them enough for all they do!
A huge thank you to Mount Pleasant staff, SCDNR, Mount Pleasant Waterworks and our local residents. The installation of a living shoreline at Pitt Street Bridge will help ensure the park’s resilience, provide crucial oyster habitat, and filter the harbor of excess nutrients and pollutants. Living shorelines are an incredibly valuable ecological feature that can also be deployed on residential properties.
An adult oyster will filter about 2.5 gallons of water each hour and about 50 gallons per day. We deployed 50 Manufactured Wire Reefs that will grow around 7,000 adult oysters on each MWR.
Thank you to our incredible participants who made these inspiring numbers happen.
