The annual Sweetgrass Festival in Mount Pleasant is designed to promote and bring attention to the contributions of the Gullah Geechee people’s history, culture, traditions and their sweetgrass basket art form that originated in Mount Pleasant. Moreover, the Sweetgrass Festival provides an opportunity for engagement, and exposure to the Gullah Geechee people’s culture. Informative and interesting educational sessions will enlighten and entertain participants of all ages. Location: Mount Pleasant Memorial Waterfront Park.

From Local Mike Paschos - As a retired Green Beret, I’ve lost more brothers to suicide than I ever did in combat. That’s not a statistic I’m okay with.

I’m raising funds by ruck marching 50 miles in July for Mission 22—a nonprofit fighting veteran suicide through community, treatment programs, and long-term support. They’re in the fight, and I want to back their mission.
